The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the closure of parts of three roads in Nairobi and Kiambu counties following heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, the authority declared that Enterprise Road, Eastern Bypass, and Thika Bypass were significantly affected by the rain, leading to partial closures.

They stated that traffic police and their technical team were already on the ground directing road users and enhancing their safety.

"Following heavy rainfall yesterday (Tuesday) night across the country, the following roads in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties have been significantly affected, leading to partial closures; Enterprise Road, Eastern bypass, and Thika bypass," KURA said in the statement.

The authority also issued a stern warning to road users, advising them not to attempt to cross flooded areas.

"Traffic police and our technical team are on the ground directing traffic and enhancing the safety of drivers. We will continue to update you as the situation progresses. Please drive safely and DO NOT attempt to cross flooded areas," KURA said.

These developments come as various roads across Kenya are reported to be submerged due to heavy ongoing rainfall.

It has also been reported that Lang'ata Road near T-Mall is impassable. The section has been closed due to severe flooding. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
