The body of Dr. Samuel Mbutu Mararo, a 37-year-old political science lecturer at the University of Nairobi, who had been reported missing, was discovered at the City Mortuary.

The lecturer was last seen three days before the report was filed, and his family had posted a notice seeking information about his whereabouts.

“In case you come across him, please contact Kamkunji Police Station or the nearest police station or the brother…,” appealed part of the poster.

Dr. Mararo's lifeless body was found on the streets of Nairobi and taken to City Mortuary on February 20. The cause of his death is still unknown.

His brother, Joseph Kagirj, identified the body on Tuesday morning. Kagiri suspects that the late lecturer was drugged and robbed, as his laptop, mobile phone, and cash were stolen. There were no apparent physical injuries.

The body, marked as unidentified, had been in the mortuary for a week before the family identified it. Dr. Mararo, heading home to Kariobangi, was likely drugged and robbed, possibly even mugged.

The thieves utilized his MPesa account to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money, with transactions traced to Kayole.

Nairobi area police boss Adamson Bungei reported that no arrests have been made, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death. Dr. Mararo leaves behind two children.
