Uganda's Oscar Kampala wins big at Forty Under 40 Awards in Nairobi

Fashion Designer Oscar Nyesiga aka Oscar Kampala won a prestigious award at the 2024 Forty Under 40 Africa Awards held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi on 30th March 2024.

Oscar who is the Founder and CEO of Oscar Kampala Collection had been pitted against other heavyweights in the Fashion Category where he emerged victorious.

Taking to his socials after scooping the coveted award, a thankful Kampala dedicated his award to all his clients stating that their trust and support brought home the trophy.

He went down memory lane to where his journey in Fashion Design started – back in High school in 2015.

The Forty Under 40 Africa Awards, always recognize and celebrate the continent’s most influential young business leaders under the age of forty. The 2024 Gala for the prestigious awards brought together a wide range of pioneers and change-makers from across Africa.

The Oscar Kampala brand, which represents originality, quality, and inclusivity, has received considerable attention and respect both at home and abroad.

In March 2024, Oscar was again named among the 100 most impactful people for the year 2023 by Ranks Africa.

In 2023, the fashion designer was recognized as the Best Young Entrepreneur at Zikomo Awards in Lusaka Zambia. At Zikomo, he won two awards, Best Fashion Brand in Africa and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Oscar holds a very impressive catalogue as a Fashion designer having dressed several A-list stars from Africa and beyond.

In an interview with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, Oscar mentioned that his brand was born back in 2015 when he was still in High School.

“Oscar is my real name then Kampala is the brand. My real name is Oscar Nyasiga (which means trust). Kampala is a name I came up with back in High School when I started the brand in 2015. At that time I was in form three,” Oscar revealed.
