In an interview with Rev Kathy Kiuna, Dorcas vividly recalled Gachagua’s pleasant demeanour.
Further stating that he had donned a brown suit and was at the time busy writing a list of the students expected to grace former President Daniel Moi's event at Kabarnet.
“We met at the University. Riggy G came into my life in the ’80s, on June 17, 1987, and there were these trips we used to go and see President Moi at Kabarnet Gardens.
My friend told me to accompany her to Kabarnet Gardens and I saw a good opportunity. I decided I would go with them and guess who was writing the names? Riggy G!” She said as the audience laughed.
She added: “I thought he was interesting because he was wearing a brown suit with a brown tie with some stripes and he said hello as I went inside.”
Despite noting that she was not in a good place mentally or anticipating a relationship then, the DP’s spouse surprisingly wondered what Gachagua was doing at Kenyatta University despite him not being a student at the institution.
She regardless admitted to having been smitten by the DP at first sight.
“Every district had a district union and so at that time it was Nyeri Union that was going, and I don’t know what he was doing at the Kenyatta University because it was my friend who came to get me,” she explained.
“I was not imagining getting married because I wanted to take care of my mother. It never registered in mind but I thought he was interesting.”
