Sometimes talent can be better than the career you once studied. As much as we are told to always follow our hearts some of these journalists choose to bring their brains with them when changing careers.

Below is a list of individuals who made it to the journalism field by virtue of their hard work and consistency.

1) Mike Mondo

What better way to start your career than by being a nurse? Yes, Classic 105's beloved presenter didn't automatically find himself in the journalism department in fact he didn't study journalism at all.

Mike Mondo is a nurse by profession and only joined journalism because of an interview he did while waiting to receive his change after paying for a meal.

2) Kamene Goro

The ex-Kiss 100 radio presenter is a lawyer by profession and even has papers to prove that she was very smart.

She joined the journalism industry when she was in her third year on campus when she got a chance to do a screen test on TV. 

At the age of 21 years old, she was a prime-time news anchor and presenter.

3) Ghost Mulee

Ghost is a renowned football coach. He used to be a Harambee Stars coach before he joined the journalistic field. 

Ghost has been a football enthusiast for the longest time and has played for many Kenyan teams. The football lover joined the industry after he was spotted by Carol Radpull.

4) Yvonne Okwara

If there were an iron lady in journalism then it would definitely be Yvonne Okwara. Despite graduating with a degree in Microbiology she has proven that talent can be the key to everything.

Yvonne Okwara is one of the best journalists in Kenya and is known for her ability to manipulate the answers from stubborn politicians and critics.

Yvonne joined the journalism field as a voice-over artist 

5) MCA Tricky

The funny comedian and radio presenter at Milele FM is actually a mechanical engineer. after getting media exposure at the Churchill Show, the engineer dug further into the field.

MCA Tricky first joined  radio Maisha before moving to Milele FM where he hosts a show alongside Chris on a show dubbed Chris Na Tricky Milele

6) Waihigi Mwaura

After graduating with a degree in Computer science, Mwaura decided to try acting and that's how he got exposed to the journalistic field. 

After finishing his acting show, he decided to try other ventures in journalism by sending his resume to different stations.

He officially started his career at Citizen TV where he used to host  Power Breakfast before joining BBC.
