Rita Waeni Muendo has finally been buried.
The university student was buried in a private ceremony attended by her family in Makueni.
Rita died in a brutal murder on January 14, in Roysambu.
Waeni was buried on Monday.
A family spokesperson shared a statement to media houses informing of the development.
Dr Lilian Mutea told that the late Rita Waeni's body was handed over to the family on Feb 2 by DCI.
This was after detectives fully conducted their forensic analysis.
“This morning, February 5, 2024, Waeni’s body was laid to rest at a private ceremony attended only by her family. The funeral service and burial took place at her parent’s home at Mukimwani Village, Kalimani Location, Kisau Division, Makueni County,” Mutea said.
“We know that many people have understood the depth of this loss and therefore decision for privacy at this event. We call upon the government to carry out thorough investigations, so that justice for Waeni may prevail.”
