Mugithi singer Kareh B loses her son Joseph in a road accident

Joseph Maduli, son to Mugithi star Kareh B died yesterday 

The family of Kareh B learned of their son's death via social media.

She added that before this day their kids have never been sent home at night

"Going by Easy Coach (which they us to travel home), all buses were fully booked by other schools prior to this.

They decided to let the students travel at night.

Some parents were OK with it but my I was worried why they were not giving us parents who did not want our kids to travel at night an option.

This is something that has never happened before, either during midterm or during closing time."

Kareh B added that she had hoped her son was among those who had survived

"I did not get sleep at around 12: 30AM or 1.00 AM is when I got information that a bus carrying Chavakali Boys had been involved in an accident.

In the whats app groups around 5:00AM or 6:30 AM parents were still receiving their kids but mine was nowhere to be seen.

I started asking myself why my son wasn't coming home."

Adding

"One of the teachers on the site of the accident said 

He told me the ones who got minor injuries were allowed to call their parents but mine did not call."

Diana Gichengo a family friend added

"As parents we have very many questions about everything that has happened,.

It is not clear why we have to look for information ourselves."

The family sent a family friend to nearby hospitals in Kisumu after the form four student failed to get home.

Plans are underway to transfer Joseph's remains to Nairobi.

The accident which occurred in Mamboleo -Kisumu on April 1, 2024, around 10 pm left one dead and several injured.

"We are deeply saddened to confirm a fatal accident involving our Mbale-Nairobi bus," reads the notice on Tuesday.

A Chavakali Boys High School student died in the accident while at least 33 were injured.

The injured were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu for treatment following the Monday night accident along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway, police said.

The bus was ferrying the students to Nairobi following the closure of schools for the first term.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control at the Mamboleo roundabout in Kisumu.
