A Kenyan woman working in Dubai was forced to return home accompanied by her boss to follow up on Sh300,000 erroneously sent to someone via mpesa.

The woman on a tiktok video, described how she sent her boss to do a bank transfer from Saudi to Kenya, but unfortunately, a problem arose on the Kenyan side.

The woman named Irene Glory on Facebook, sent the money in November 2023,

"The teller who wrongly sent the money agreed to have made a mistake because we went to that bank with my boss and they asked for a trace of the money," she said.

According to Irene, the teller called another Branch to check the transaction. Irene and her boss asked for the transaction to be reversed.

The other teller confirmed a wrong transaction

"Sasa hapo ndo makosa ilifanyika. Huyo teller akenda akatuma pesa na mpesa instead of bank to bank transaction," she explained.

"Unfortunately pesa ilikuwa ishatolewa immediately So i contacted Safaricom who told me to go to the Police. Nikiwa Saudi sasa niende polisi wapi? Ilibidi turudi home na my Boss . I asked him to pay for me a ticket, so that we can go to Kenyan and follow up."

Irene and her boss went to Kasarani Police where they were given an OB number. The DCI tracked the number and location. They told us to go home and leave them to do their job.

DCI obtained a court order to get details of the Safaricom number and promised to arrest the subscriber.

The DCI asked her for Sh20k to fuel their car. Irene sent mpesa to fuel their car.

She grew restless when she did not hear from the cops.

Two days later, Irene was informed that the mobile phone user had disappeared to Tanzania and couldn't be traced. "That DCI woman told me never to call that number that the bank sent the mpesa to. I called regardless and he told me he was in Kisumu. "

Irene informed the Kasarani officers of her own investigation, and they asked for more money to fuel another car. She sent them 3k.

Irene described her frustration after this because the man claimed that the DCI officers demanded money to 'end the case unofficially'.

The thief sent her WhatsApp messages of money transactions between DCI and himself. He also threatened Irene, who traded words with the Kasarani officers.

Out of fear, Irene blocked all the Kasarani officers and described it as a painful experience.
